SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush and SENSSE Hot and Cool Toning Bar - review

I am a huge fan of natural skincare - but if I can use this alongside a bit of non-invasive, non-surgical technology then even better! I have posted previously about my experiences with non-surgical facelifts in salon, but I am always on the lookout for products which can be used at home as part of a regular skincare regime.

SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush and SENSSE Hot and Cool Toning Bar - review

I was recently given the opportunity to try out the SENSSE™ Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush  and also the SENSSE™ Hot and Cool Toning Bar.

Remarkably, I've not actually used a a facial brush for cleansing before - I tend to favour traditional facial scrubs and/or muslin cloths to polish my skin so I was really excited to try this one out.

Similarly, with the hot and cool toning bar - I often (admittedly not actually that often) use a muslin cloth with hot and then cold water to tone my face before applying a moisturising product so again, I was super intrigued as to how this little gadget could help.

I am now nearing the end of my pregnancy and the elusive 'pregnancy glow' never quite found it's way to me...just like in my last pregnancy, the only reason I would reflect any more light in 'glowy' terms than I did before was due to an increase in surface area. My skin has been a mix of oily and dry and definitely dehydrated as I have struggled to maintain a balance between drinking enough water and not just peeing it back out 5 mins later.

So what about these products?

Well let me tell you a bit about how they work first:

SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush:

SENSSE Silicone Facial cleansing and exfoliating brush with glitter pouch

"A smart cleansing brush that combines thorough cleansing and anti-ageing in one device.
Each silicone bristle is kind and gentle to the skin yet effectively draws out any dirt and impurities for healthy-looking, glowing skin. Featuring a unique bristle pattern to follow the contours of the face for deep cleansing."

  • ADVANCED CLEANSING SYSTEM - Facial brush uses proprietary technology that delivers thousands of pulsations per minute to gently remove dirt oil, makeup residue, and dry dead skin leaving your face feeling clean and rejuvenated.
  • GENTLE, HYGIENIC, and ECONOMICAL - The face brush has no brushes or batteries to replace and is made of medical grade silicone, gentle enough for all skin types with inherent antibacterial and antifungal properties.
  • EASY TO USE ANYWHERE - You can use the SENSSE facial cleanser almost anywhere; it's water resistant up to 1 meter so you can use it in the shower and is easily recharged with included USB cable.

SENSSE Hot and Cool Toning Bar:

SENSSE Hot and Cool Toning Bar for face
"Give your skin an instant refresh for a lasting, radiant glow. The hot and cool mode relieves skin fatigue to energise the muscles and brighten tired skin. This instant pick-me-up promotes elasticity while smoothing out fine lines to bring out your youthful side from within."

  • ENERGISE AND BRIGHTEN YOUR SKIN - Hot and cool face massager gives your skin an instant refresh that relieves skin fatigue and energises your facial muscles for a lasting, radiant glow.
  • SOFTEN AND RELAX FACIAL MUSCLES - The 42°C temperature in hot mode is optimal for increasing blood circulation, relaxing your facial muscles, smoothing wrinkles, and activating cell regrowth.
  • REDUCE REDNESS AND SWELLING - Uses optimal 6°C temperature to soothe sore facial muscles, and relieve skin fatigue; Also reduces redness and puffiness to make your skin look bright and beautiful.
  • INCREASE MOISTURISER ABSORPTION - Ultrasonic vibrations increase absorption of your moisturiser while cool mode closes pores, locking in your skin care product and preventing dirt and grime buildup.

My verdict:

The silicone face brush was amazing for getting the blood flowing - I have to say, the strength of the vibration was much stronger than the strength of the exfoliation properties with this brush. This means it is gentle enough for regular use but I didn't feel like it have a good 'buff' of all of the dead skin cells. My skin is also very congested and it didn't do a great deal to help there so I do wonder if a regular facial 'brush' would work better for that purpose. I did like the 'rosy glow' it gave afterwards though, because of the extra blood flow and I will definitely keep using this, but I will need something else in addition to help with exfoliation.

The hot and cool toning bar feels really luxurious. The heat setting is really soothing and feels lovely and relaxing on the skin. I used this with a moisturising balm which spreads better with the heat and I could really feel that the combination of the product with the toning bar to massage it into the skin worked well. The heat setting is also amazing for sore muscles.

The cool setting is really refreshing and a great way to tone the skin and close the pores after using heat. Alternating hot and cold works really well on muscles, not just for the face -  and in fact, this was an absolute life saver when I had a tension headache and needed something cool to help with the pain! I was surprised at how cold it got so quickly, but also not on a level of being 'uncomfortable'. Also fab for those hot hormonal flushes!!

After using both of these my skin definitely looked more radiant, although the 'glow' does wear off as the blood flow returns to normal. I can imagine that regular use over a period of time will lead to increase tone in the face, because of the stimulation from the vibrations, heat and cold working on the facial muscles. I'll certainly keep using both of them.

  1. I think I'd be a little scared to put that on my face...but maybe I need it!

  2. I have never used a facial brush. It sounds interesting but something I probably wouldn't keep up purely because I have become a bit lazy with my routine. Thanks so much for linking up with #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next week.
