Teaching young children about loss and helping them through grief can be really hard. Death is a very abstract concept to explain to small children, especially when so many of us have different beliefs about what happens when we die - knowing how to explore and explain it is something many of us would struggle with.

  

When children are small, they are still developing an ability to recognise and deal with their own feelings and emotions, and so this is definitely an area where they will need a little bit of help to process and explore what it means to lose something or someone special.
