What product instantly reminds you of your childhood?
Perhaps it’s the
smell of a particular lip-balm…the aroma of a freshly run bubble bath after
you’ve tipped half a bottle of your mum’s favourite soap in there…or the
adrenaline/anxiety rush of lowering yourself onto an inflatable chair and
hoping it doesn’t pop! If sitting by the radio on a Sunday night with your
blank mix tape at the ready, whilst pulling a 5p chomp from your teeth still
feels like yesterday, this one might be for you!
In this blog post, I have curated a list of things that
instantly transport Millennial Mums back to the 90s – and if you’re quick, you
can also enter the giveaway to win a nostalgic Fenjal body care gift-set for
yourself or the Millennial in your life!
Nostalgic smells:
Fenjal bath and bodycare (giveaway at the end of this post!):

Remember the smell of
Fenjal in your mum’s bathroom cabinet? – If you grew up in the 80s or 90s
there’s a good chance Fenjal’s distinctive fragrance will take you straight
back in time. Thankfully, Fenjal’s nostalgic body care collection is still
going strong, and they now have their classic collection available alongside
their newer and also limited edition ranges. Personally, I use and LOVE this
brand – their range is extensive, high quality but also affordable, so there’s
no need to save this just for ‘best’. Make this a regular part of your every
day bathing and body routine and you wont regret the results.
For one lucky reader, I have a Fenjal ‘Me Time’ Pamper Box
Giveaway – just scroll to the bottom of this post and enter the giveaway using the instructions provided.
If you’d like to explore Fenjal’s entire range, you can take
a look on their new website – www.fenjal.co.uk.
Scented lipbalms:
No millennial will have passed through tweendom without some
form of scented lip lip balm – usually the
Strawberry Chapstick or (my personal fave) the Chocolate Liplix by Bonne Bell which captured
the 90s brown lip trend perfectly.
You can still purchase the
original strawberry chapstick for a trip back in time here.
Childhood sweets and Treats:
The 90’s were peak for puddings, sweets and treats! Why not
treat your Millennial mate to a nostalgic hamper with goodies such as Angel Delight, Opal Fruits (starburst!),
dipdabs, double dip, refreshers, parma violets and candy necklaces. You can put
this together yourself or order a retro sweet
hamper ready made.
Why not go one further and order this recipe book full of nostalgic primary school puddings to make your own,
or these classic British Biscuit cookie
cutters…we have these, and I can confirm, they look like the real deal!
90s technology upgraded!
You can’t beat the fun of a disposable camera – snapping
away with absolutely no idea of whether the photo you took would even show an
image after forking out a fortune on processing. You can still buy disposable cameras now, which are fab
for a girls’ weekend away or, save the wait and invest in a polaroid/instant camera instead. This way,
you still get the physical print out to stick in your book/purse/locker/bedroom
wall and you get to hold the memory in your actual hands.
One thing we have bought which has been AMAZING is this portable cassette player and recorder –
which not only plays your old mix tapes, home recordings or childhood music
tapes, but it also records them and converts them to a digital music file! So
if you break or lose the tape (or the
technology to listen to it) then the digital version of the audio is still
safe.
Millennial fashion gifts:
We’re talking hair
scrunchies, butterfly clips, bum-bags, charm jewellery, friendship bracelets and jelly bracelets (okay, we called them something very different!), bucket hats, chokers, zig-zag
headbands and mood rings!
Why not create a nostalgic hamper of all the old style
accessories and arrange a retro dress up party!
You can view the whole list of 90’s items in my list here.
90s toys and games gifts:
No, were not still here crying that we didn’t get the Mr
Frosty (although it IS still available here
if you happen to want it!) but here are some other millennial games you can buy
to tap into those 90s memories:
·
Furby
Finally, let’s move on to…
Millennial homeware and gifts:
No millennial home was complete without a few boy-band
posters on the wall – sadly most of these won't have aged well, but here are a
few other gift ideas to bring the nostalgia back:
·
Gel pens
and scented erasers
·
Glow in the
dark ceiling stars
