3 things to look for in the perfect t-shirt

T-shirts have long been a fashion staple in most people’s wardrobes. They go with a wide range of outfits, and are practically unbeatable when trying to find a versatile item that will work in most occasions.

3 things to look for in the perfect t-shirt

Not all t-shirts are born equal, however, and it’s vital that you refine your search somewhat before you get started. From fabric quality to following your own personal tastes, these are 3 things to look for in the perfect t-shirt.

  1. Fabric quality

When looking for the perfect t-shirt from a supplier like Screen Textiles, one of the first things to identify is the fabric quality of the various options you’re considering. Nowadays, there are heaps of options made from synthetic fibres that just don’t feel as comfortable against the skin, and often won’t last as long.

Check that the t-shirts you’re looking at are made of 100% cotton, and that the cotton is of high quality. You’ll also want to consider the fabric weight; thicker cotton is generally nicer to wear and will last longer, but it might end up being slightly too warm to wear during the summer months.

  1. Fit

Fit is also incredibly important. There are plenty of different options to choose from, and you want to make sure that the perfect t-shirt looks perfect when you’re wearing it.

If you’re going for a baggier option, then you’ll likely want to make sure that it sits on your shoulders nicely, and doesn’t look overly boxy or drown your figure. No matter the fit, you’ll want the shoulder seams to roughly line up with the end of your shoulder bone, if anything, going slightly further out instead of further in.

Unless you’re going for a cropped look, you’ll want the bottom of the t-shirt to sit comfortably above the waistline of your skirt, shorts or trousers, and a neckline that sits comfortably against your skin.

  1. Personally perfect

It’s also critical that you don’t just try to get a ‘generically’ perfect t-shirt. Start your search by thinking about what you really want from the garment, and then go from there.

If you’re looking for a plain option that can be worn to work, then yes, a nicely fitting white t-shirt might be perfect for you. If, however, you want to find a fun t-shirt that represents a bit more of your own personal flair, you might want to get a personalised t-shirt that has a screen-printed design on it.

If you don’t approach your search like this, you might end up with a t-shirt that’s perfect for someone else, but doesn’t quite work for you. Prioritise your own preferences from the get-go, and everything else should go a lot smoother.

It’s important to put the time into finding the right t-shirt for your needs. You’ll likely end up wearing it more than pretty much any other item you own, and it’s absolutely worth dedicating some research time to getting it just right - you’ll almost doubtless reap the rewards for years and years to come.
